Yesterday you got to see AJ & Sam! And now you get to hear from her too :-D While I’m gone we’re going to have a couple guest posts!!! So this is from the fabulous Your Stylist AJ. XXOOAJ working at Mallory’s Drake Hotel Wedding
Engagements should be full of excitement and jam-packed with fun to-dos, hopefully this guide to all things hair will help you stress less and plan more!
1.     Find the right stylist for YOU This seems obvious, but it’s important to find a stylist you connect with, who’s style can reflect yours and who LOVES what they do. If your usual hairdresser doesn’t specialize in bridal, it’s absolutely okay to ask them for a recommendation. The hair for the most important day of your life is different than everyday hair.
2.     Prioritize a trial Scheduling a trial with your stylist not only solidifies that you love the look, but alleviates day-of stress. Even if you love your hairdresser, and you’ve known them for years, sitting there on your wedding day hoping it turns out like you’ve always envisioned, sounds stressful! (Side note: I recommend scheduling a hair and make-up trial for the day of a dress fitting. This will help you get a total visual.)
3.     Consider extensions Even if length isn’t an issue, sometimes extensions can add fullness that allows for more options. Whether you decide to wear your hair up or down, extensions are a great way to enhance your look.
4.     Plan out your color services Between tastings, trials, fittings and parties, it’s easy to overlook when your last color service with your maiden name will be. I recommend scheduling your last color and trim two weeks before your wedding day. When color is too fresh, it can sometimes look unnatural. Two weeks is the perfect sweet spot between fresh, and still natural. (Side note: This isn’t a good time to make changes to your color, only to touch up your new growth.)
5.     Take advantage of your stylist for other spotlight events As a bride-to-be you’re the center of attention. Remember that your stylist is available for blowouts or styles for engagement photos, bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinner, etc.
6.     Be yourself On your wedding day, it’s important to still look like YOU. If you never ever wear your hair up, consider wearing it down. If you have a chin length haircut, waist-long extensions are probably not a great idea. My goal as a stylist is to make every person I work with feel like the absolute BEST version of themselves. Enhancing yourself while staying true to you, is key.
