Happy Foodie Friday! I’ve blogged about this place before, but it’s been a while so I thought I’d bring it back to top of mind. My favorite cocktail bar in the Chicago, The Violet Hour. This place existed as a door in the wall before speak easies were popular again and before you could get craft cocktails most places. If there’s a line out the door and you don’t want to wait, tip the doorman $20 and you’ll get the next seats for two. I prefer to go early and sit at the bar so I can learn from their knowledgeable staff and watch them work. Wil and I went to the Violet Hour all the time when we were dating, we had our Chicago post-wedding party in their back salon, and most recently I hosted my first annual couples party there as well. So yes, it has a lot of sentimental value for me, but they also make some of the best drinks in town.
