Anxiety, Kaki King, and Voting!

Anxiety, Kaki King, and Voting!

November 6, 2012

I saw a pin last week that said If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present. – Lao Tzu

It slapped me across the face. I plan myself in circles. I could list my lists for you. I’d never thought about it in the terms of trying to live in the future though, I just want to be prepared. But since I want to be at peace and learn how to be still I’m going to work even harder at just enjoying the present and letting the future handle itself.

Friday night we went to a show at City Winery and I heard Kaki King live for the first time. Hers is the kind of music I want to be present with, to curl up on the couch with a big mug of hot tea, to listen to while the rain comes down. Music that begs you to be still and just listen. To relax and enjoy.

Here’s her new album  and youtube channel if you want to take a listen ;-) It’s my soundtrack for today (and maybe even the whole month :-P –but I’m not planning on it)

In other, much more important news, go vote today!
