I made it to my mid-season wedding break! Kelly & Dan’s wedding (which will be on the blog tomorrow) is my last wedding (of my own) for a month! Yes, I still have a million engagement sessions and other fun photo things, and I am second shooting a wedding for a friend during this month…but it’s totally going to feel like a little break! I have photographed twelve weddings in the past thirteen weeks. Wil and I are going to take a long weekend in Miami in a few weeks, and I’m going to try my darndest to enjoy a few summery things while we still have the heat.
I’m realizing more and more while I’m at weddings what draws me in to photograph these marriage celebrations. The elements of the day that I can’t wait to photograph. Most of my weddings don’t have all or even necessarily most of these things, but I just love it when they do….
A veil that moves in the breeze, a dress that sways on the dance floor, supportive parents that cry during the ceremony, stolen moments to admire ones’ new spouse throughout the day and night, a band that makes all the guests want to twist and shout, when the couple gets ready together, toasts that bring both laughter and tears, flowers that make me gasp at their beauty, family traditions, grooms in bow ties, and let’s be honest, pretty food.
I’m sure this list will grow and change over time, but for now I love walking through the day anticipating each moment.
What are your favorite elements of a wedding?
